Overview |
GRADE SIX
|
In this activity students will be researching an Influential Indigenous Personality. They will be using their research skills to find reliable and accurate sources to gain their information. They will use the National Living Treasures list to find Indigenous Australians that have been influential to society. They will choose one and research them to create a powerpoint presentation about their person. After researching they will use the Powerpoint to collate their information under the topics below:
1. Who are they?
3. Person's achievements 4. Person's specific influence on Australian society (What did they do for our country or people) 5. Why do you find this person influential? 6. References used |
They will then video themselves presenting their powerpoint on their i-pads, with the help of a partner. Then they will use this video to create an Augmented Reality Item for students to present in a gallery walk. Students will use the app 'Aurasma' to present their video. The app allows students to do this by attaching a video to an object or image in the classroom (See resource below for further information). After the gallery walk, students will have discussions about what makes these people influential Australians and how they influence us today.

Students should already have an understanding of:
|
AurasmaAurasma is an app that allows students to bring pictures, objects and places to life. They can scan objects in their classroom to find information, animations etc. The Aurasma image below is linked to a video on how the app can be used in the classroom, just as an example of how the app actually works. Students will upload their recorded presentation videos to their account on Aurasma and attach it to a printed image of their person, which will be placed on each students desk. Students can then do a gallery walk around to other students' desks, using the app on their individual ipads to view other students' presentations.
